The School of Economics of Wuhan University of Technology was founded in 2000 during the period of merger and formation of schools, and its economic disciplines have a deep heritage, as early as in the 1980s to open the undergraduate program of economics, in the 1990s to start the training of master's degree students, and in 2003 was awarded the doctoral degree in applied economics.Adhering to the philosophy of "educating people and putting academics first", the college has become a teaching and research college with distinctive cross-disciplinary characteristics, outstanding internationalization and excellent social service capability after more than 20 years of development.
Relying on the university's advantages in science and technology, the college has built a new liberal arts development system of "digital-driven, AI-enabled", focusing on the construction of digital economy, financial science and technology, digital trade and low-altitude economy, and offering cutting-edge courses such as artificial intelligence and financial science and technology.The college has established a postdoctoral mobile station of applied economics, doctoral and master's authorization points for the first discipline of applied economics, four professional master's degree programs in finance, international business, digital economy and public administration (MPA), as well as five undergraduate majors in economics, finance, international economics and trade, e-commerce and digital economy.Among them, international economics and trade, finance and e-commerce have been selected as national first-class undergraduate majors, and the pilot classes of mathematical finance, financial science and technology, and digital economy highlight the characteristics of education.The School of Economics has been recruiting and training overseas doctoral, master's and undergraduate students in economics, operating international education programs and international student exchange programs for nearly 20 years, and cooperating with universities in the United Kingdom, France, Australia and other countries to train postgraduates and undergraduates.
There are 97 full-time teachers in the college, including 3 special allowance experts of the State Council, 3 provincial talents, 2 chief professors, 19 doctoral supervisors, and more than 60% of the teachers have overseas study experience.There are four provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platforms: Science and Technology Innovation and Economic Development Research Center (Hubei Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences), E-commerce Big Data Engineering and Technology Research Center (Hubei Engineering and Technology Research Center), Modern Logistics Research Center (Hubei Provincial People's Government's Core Think Tank), Hubei Early Warning Center for Trade Friction and Barriers (Ministry of Commerce's Regional Workstation for Trade Friction), as well as one of the first batch ofHubei Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Economics and Management in Higher Education Institutions.The college has also established several school-level research bases and joint talent training and internship bases with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Bank of China (BOC), Great Wall Strategy, Yangtze River Futures, Oriental Securities, Xiaomi Technology, CLP Optical Valley, Hubei Free Trade Zone, and many other organizations.The research team has presided over major key projects of the National Social Science Foundation, key projects of the National Science Foundation, key research and development projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and has completed a number of strategic consulting research projects commissioned by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, local governments, industry associations, etc. A number of research results and consulting reports have been approved by the leaders of the provinces and cities.
The college practices the educational philosophy of "learning and practicing, helping the people through the world", and builds the "AI+Economics" composite cultivation system: it builds the Digital Economy Future Learning Center and the Economy Big Model Base, and builds the Ministry of Education's Engineering Research Center of Digital Publishing Intelligent Service Technology and Hubei Province E-commerce Big Data Engineering Technology Research Center in conjunction with the College of Computer Science.Engineering Research Center and Hubei Province E-commerce Big Data Engineering Technology Research Center.Students have won 203 awards above the provincial level in the "Challenge Cup" and "Internet+" events, and the undergraduate research rate is among the highest in the whole university, and the employment rate has exceeded 95% for many consecutive years.The proportion of graduates employed in Fortune 500 companies, three major industries, head financial institutions, government, institutions and colleges and universities has been increasing year by year.
