International Economics and Trade is the only provincial brand specialty in the School of Economics of Wuhan University of Technology, which was founded in 1986, has a long history of development and construction, and is more influential in China. In the long-term running practice, the department has accumulated rich running experience and teaching resources, set up a high-quality, characteristic, open and internationalized course teaching platform, and on the basis of absorbing the advanced experience of international joint school running, the department has carried out the construction project of characteristic teaching materials and teaching aids, and constructed the teaching case base of the whole course. The International Trade course offered by the program was established as a provincial high-quality course in 2007, and four specialized textbooks have been published, and eight specialized core courses are taught in bilingualism.
The program has built a professional teaching team with reasonable titles, academic qualifications, age structure and high overall quality.There are 23 professional teachers, with 63.6% of the total number of teachers with the title of associate professor or above; more than 77.3% of the teachers have a doctoral degree or are studying for a doctoral degree; 54.5% of the total number of teachers are under 45 years old.Ten part-time professors have been hired from domestic and foreign enterprises and famous universities to participate in the teaching and research process through project cooperation and lectures.More than 10 of the professional teachers have gone to the United States, Canada, France and other universities and research institutions for further study and exchange.In recent years, teachers of this specialty have won a number of teaching awards, including one national and one provincial teaching achievement award; they have undertaken 11 provincial and ministerial teaching and research projects and published 23 teaching and research papers; from 2005 to now, they have undertaken nearly 40 national and provincial and ministerial projects, and achieved a large number of research results.More than 100 papers have been published, more than 20 of which have been searched by three major systems, and 4 monographs have been published.At the same time, it actively encourages and subsidizes professional teachers to participate in various academic conferences, seminars and training activities in China.These research and academic activities enable the professional teachers to grasp the research dynamics and trends of the development frontiers of teaching and scientific research in this specialized field, and continuously enhance the level and innovative strength of teaching and scientific research.
The program promotes the international cooperation mode of "going out and inviting in".Since 2002, the program has been enrolling international students from more than 10 countries, including Japan, France, Norway, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, etc., including undergraduates, master's degree holders, doctoral degree holders and short-term exchange students at various levels.Meanwhile, the university also adopts various modes of school running, such as 2+2, 1+2+1, 3+1, 1+3, etc., to jointly cultivate undergraduate students majoring in international economics and trade or international business with universities in the United States, Australia, Canada, Holland, Finland, Sweden, etc. Graduates of the joint cultivation program can obtain degrees from Chinese and foreign universities at the same time.And in 2003, an all-English/bilingual pilot class was set up in this program to encourage school undergraduates in international trade with high comprehensive quality to study abroad on exchange.Since 2000, nine Master of International Trade (MIB) students have been jointly trained through the cooperation agreement signed between the university and Bordeaux Higher School of Business in France.At present, the program has established technical cooperation relations and off-campus teaching internship bases with a number of foreign-related enterprises in China, such as Wuhan Iron and Steel Company, Shenlong Automobile Company Limited, Cixi Personnel Bureau and so on.Judging from the effectiveness of the construction of the specialty, the graduates of International Economics and Trade Major (Direction) are highly evaluated by the employers.Students actively participate in scientific and technological innovation activities during their school years. In recent years, they have published 35 academic papers, 64 times won various awards such as National College Students' English Contest, English Speech Contest, English Debate, Mathematical Modeling Contest, Entrepreneurship Planning Contest, etc., and 53 of them have won the Outstanding Bachelor's Degree Thesis Award of Hubei Province.These achievements illustrate the effectiveness of talent cultivation for international trade majors in our university.
